Bleach es una serie de manga y anime creada por Tite Kubo. La historia sigue a Ichigo Kurosaki, un adolescente que accidentalmente obtiene los poderes de un Shinigami (Dios de la Muerte) y se ve envuelto en un mundo de espíritus, hollows y conflictos sobrenaturales.
En este universo hay diversas facciones como lo son:
Los shinigamis son una raza de seres espirituales encargados de mantener el equilibrio en el flujo de almas en el mundo. Poseen altos niveles de energía espiritual, que son capaces de manejar y canalizar de forma innata, y por ello son reclutados desde su juventud sean habitantes del Rukongai o miembros de la nobleza del Seireitei.

Los Quincy son humanos con poderes sobrenaturales que luchan contra los Hollow. Al contrario que los Shinigami, los Quincy no purifican a los Hollow, sino que los destruyen por completo. Hace 200 años fueron exterminados por los shinigami.

Los Espada son los Arrancar mas poderosos de Hueco Mundo. En el momento de su presentación el grupo de los Espada está constituido por nueve hombres y una mujer, a todos los cuales se les asigna un número del 1 al 10 en función de su fuerza, que indica su rango y su nivel de poder relativo.
